Obviously this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but as a twenty-something with no children, one of my favorite things to do in Walt Disney World is to enjoy the different alcoholic beverages around the parks and resorts. Considering the massive size of Walt Disney World, you can imagine that I had a very difficult time narrowing my selections down to 5 drinks. When narrowing down my choices I tried to select drinks that are not seasonal or temporary, are unique to Disney, and taste amazing on a scorching hot Florida day.
So without further ado, here are my 5 go-to adult beverages (in no particular order):
1. Orange Slush, Les Vins des Chefs de France- EPCOT.
|
You can tell the drink is that good because
I couldn't resist chugging it before taking a picture! |
You can find this extremely popular slush across from the Chefs de France restaurant in the France Pavilion in Epcot. This heavenly frozen cocktail is made with Grand Marnier and Grey Goose Vodka, and tastes like an adult Creamsicle from heaven. While there is also an option for a Citron (lemon) flavored slush, I much prefer the Orange Slush. So, on a hot day in Epcot, treat your tastebuds and cool yourself down with one of these frozen drinks. Or, if you're more of a lemon kind of person, go for the Citron Slush instead!
2. Dole Whip with Rum, Tamu Tamu Refreshments- ANIMAL KINGDOM
|
Yet another drink I never got a photo of because
I drank it before I got the chance! haha, but here is
a picture of the menu! |
If you are an avid Disney World traveler, you have probably had the extremely popular Dole Whip many times. As a person who is not a big fan of Pineapple or Pineapple Juice, I was extremely surprised that I loved Dole Whips the first time I tried one. At Tamu Tamu Refreshments, you have the option of spiking your Dole Whip with either dark or coconut rum. I personally like it with either, but the coconut rum definitely gives the drink a sweeter, more tropical vibe. Also, if you are traveling with children or anyone under 21, this stand also serves Dole Whips without alcohol so you can get frozen treats for everyone here. This is another thing that hits the spot while dealing with the hot Florida weather.
3. Schofferhofer Grapefruit Beer, Germany- EPCOT.
|
Finally, a drink that got the photo-op it
deserved! |
Epcot's World Showcase is home to many different types of beer from all over the world but this one is hands down my favorite. I appreciate all different types of brews, but this beer is just perfectly refreshing. This beer is all over the Germany Pavilion, at the quick service stands, and also in the Biergarten restaurant. While this beer is not unique to Epcot (I have actually seen it sold in bottles and cans in liquor stores near me), there is something so amazing about it served from a Draft in Epcot. Even if you are not a fan of beer (or grapefruit), give this one a try!
4. Island Sunset, Tambu Lounge- POLYNESIAN RESORT.
|
This drink is heaven! Its tropical
and super-delicious!
|
This should not come as a surprise, but here is yet ANOTHER frozen drink that has become my obsession. This cocktail can be found at the small lounge outside of the 'Ohana restaurant in the Polynesian resort. I actually did not realize it had a name, I simply always grab an early morning cocktail here while waiting to be seated for 'brunch' at 'Ohana. This drink struck my eye when I noticed on the menu that it contains a juice very similar to the POG or Stitch Juice served in 'Ohana. When I asked the bartender that day, he confirmed it was the same juice used in this frozen drink. It was absolutely amazing (again, perfect to cool me down after being out in the heat). This bar is great and they can whip up any type of drink you can imagine, and as a bonus they are not usually crowded!
5. HippopotoMai-Tai, Trader Sam's Grog Grotto- POLYNESIAN RESORT.
|
My souvenir glass from Trader Sam's |
Okay, so in reality I would say that any drink on the menu at Trader Sam's could take a spot on this list. I selected this drink specifically because I love Mai Tais and I always find myself ordering this one at this lounge. If you have never been, Trader Sam's is a truly unique, fun and interactive lounge. When ordering, you are given the opportunity to get your specialty drink in a souvenir glass. Of course, this costs more money, but each drink makes the room come alive with sounds and special lighting. It is like a fun little show, plus you get a clean souvenir glass to take home (they are different for each drink!). It is probably the priciest cocktail I've had on Disney Property but it definitely tastes great and is a fun time.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Comment below and let me know what your favorite drinks at Walt Disney World are! Let's see if we have any in common, if not, let me know if you've ever tried these.
See Ya Real Soon,
-Katie
