Wine Bar George Open in Disney Springs
Last month during my visit to Walt Disney World, I finally got the opportunity to visit Wine Bar George. My fiancé’s family has sort of converted me into an avid wine drinker over the past several years, so this has been a restaurant I have been dying to try since it was announced. When I am not in Disney World, a lot of my time is spent drinking wine and eating lots of cheese, so I knew that this was going to be the kind of place that I would enjoy. Many of the cast members that we spoke with actually said that it is where they go on the weekends to meet with friends or other cast members.
One day out of our trip, my fiancé and I headed down to Disney Springs with the intention of trying it out. When we walked up to Wine Bar George, we could tell it was extremely packed, especially considering it was only around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Two very polite hostesses outside greeted us and informed us that there were not tables available inside at the moment but we were free to go inside and check the upstairs bar, or order wine from them to take to-go. We opted to take a chance and see if we could somehow find a seat. We were lucky because the second we walked in, a couple at the bar had just paid their tab and got up to leave.
The inside of Wine Bar George is very nice, there is a beautiful bar and lots of nice details. It was very dimly lit and had a nice ambiance about it. The only negative I could say about the place was that it was extremely crowded and the seating is very limited. There is an upstairs area with additional seating as well, however, to accommodate more guests. Because of the crowds, the volume inside the restaurant was also extremely loud. Even in the middle of the afternoon it felt like more of a nightlife atmosphere, and seems like the type of place you would go with a group of friends instead of a more intimate couple’s date night.
Now- lets get to the good stuff. Being that it was extremely hot that day, I wanted something light and refreshing. My first glass of wine was the Sabine Rosé ($9 a glass), which I felt was extremely reasonable. I actually really enjoyed this rosé, and it was exactly what I needed to cool down from the heat. One thing that was really unique about Wine Bar George was that they had select wines on tap, and this rosé happened to be one of them. My fiancé typically sticks to dry red wines, so he went with the Horizon De Lynch Cabernet Sauvignon ($12 per glass). He liked his as well, and he is a difficult one to impress when it comes to wine.

After we were almost finished with our glasses, we surveyed what people around the bar were eating and decided we would each choose an appetizer and share them. Neither of us were in the mood for a cheese plate or charcuterie board, so we both agreed to pick something different. I decided to try the Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites because, well... who doesn’t like Mac & Cheese Bites? My fiancé ordered the Porchetta-spiced Pork Cheeks (clearly he is the more adventurous eater). While we waited for our food, we both selected another glass of wine to order. I noticed as I looked down the bar it seemed like almost everyone was drinking the same wine that was a unique hot pink shade. I asked the bartender for a glass of it, and it turned out to be the Broadbent rosé ($8 a glass). My fiancé selected another red, this time he chose the Villa Antinori Sangiovese ($10 a glass). I did actually prefer the Sabine rosé over the Broadbent, so definitely give the Sabine a try if you are into rosé!
I thought the color of this wine was so interesting, it was an extremely popular choice! |
A few minutes after ordering these glasses of wine, our appetizers came out. The Mac & Cheese Bites were incredible. It was a nice adult take on them, and this paired great with my rosé. The tomato sauce they are served over actually worked perfectly with the cheese used inside these. These were so good I almost didn’t want to share, I’d 10/10 suggest these to anyone and will definitely order again. Although Pork Cheek is usually outside of my comfort zone, my fiancé convinced me to try them and I was so happy I did. They practically melted in my mouth, and had tons and tons of delicious flavor. Also, this appetizer is served over a cheesy polenta which was also delicious. We ate every single bite, and would have ordered a lot more if we did not have dinner reservations later on that evening. These dishes were a bit on the pricier side for appetizers ($12 for Mac & Cheese Bites, $16 for Pork Cheeks), but they were very good so we did not mind the cost.
The portion is actually four Mac & Cheese Bites but I ate one before taking this photo haha! |
This Pork Cheek over polenta was soooo good, very tasty! |
After finishing our second glass and appetizers, we decided we would take off and head to a park. All together we did really enjoy our time at Wine Bar George, and were so happy we finally got to experience it. The menu for both food and wine is extremely diverse, and has lots of options for all different price points. You can order wine by the glass or bottle, and they even have some “outstanding by the ounce” in which you can order 1oz, 3oz, or 6oz pours. My jaw actually dropped when I saw they have a $500 glass of wine! If you’re on a budget, they definitely have fairly priced glasses and bottles of both whites and reds. If you’re not a wine drinker, they still do have a great selection of beers, ciders, and cocktails.
So, if you find yourself in Disney Springs, definitely check out Wine Bar George! It’s a great place for a drink and a snack in the middle of the day, or a few drinks to end your night after the parks close.
